Something really exciting started to happen around 2008-2010 in electronic music. The lines between genres got totally blurred and suddenly there were tons of amazing tracks in the mid-tempo range (roughly between 120 and 140 bpm), that were tapping into or taking inspiration from multiple styles the same time, like dubstep, garage, uk funky, grime, uk hardcore, jungle, house, electro, breaks, techno, juke, etc. It was fascinating to see how separate music scenes became this big melting pot of awesomeness. Fortunately, there are many producers who continue creating with this "anything goes" mentality, and I can keep buying their nice records. :) The penultimate part of my 20th DJ anniversary mix-series focuses on some of my biggest faves from this world, enjoy!
